Thank you so much in taking the first very important step of continuing your teenager’s faith formation process by picking up a registration packet!!!!
I am hoping to be able to provide you with some basic information for TLC and this registration packet to make it a bit easier and less confusing for you. First and foremost if you are enrolling a 9th grader or a teenager for our Confirmation program THAT IS A DIFFERENT REGISTRATION PACKET. DO NOT FILL THIS ONE OUT!!! The registration packet forms online are for students entering the 7th, 8th, or 10th – 12th grades. If you have teenagers that will be in 9th grade or Confirmation AND 7th, 8th or 10th – 12th grades then you are going to need 2 separate registration packets. The pink forms (registration forms) are pretty self-explanatory.
Please make note of the volunteer opportunities which we are always in great need of and remember that “God does not call the qualified, he qualifies, the called.” Any amount of time or talent you can share with our youth ministry program and our teenagers are very much appreciated and very necessary to continue to have a successful and vibrant youth ministry program. I always say, “It takes an army to run a youth ministry program!”
Form A and Form B are Diocesan forms, please make sure you fill them out completely. The Discipline policy is intended to be read and signed by both you as the parent and your teenager(s) entering into youth ministry. This is to provide a clear understanding of the expectations of behavior right from the beginning. The TLC Calendar of Events is to serve as a very basic foundation calendar for you so you know when TLC is scheduled to meet, and when we are off for holidays, etc. This calendar is subject to (and I can promise you will) change. To make sure you have the latest and greatest information on TLC with a complete list of all the upcoming events, service opportunities, deadlines, etc. please make sure your teen picks up a copy of the monthly TLC calendar that will be available towards the end of August or you can always access it here on the youth ministry site. This is also where you can go if you are in question if TLC will be meeting due to a inclement weather situation or an emergency.
TLC will kick off with its annual kick-off party on Sunday, September 9th at 6:15 pm and we will meet in the Great Hall. TLC will always meet in the Great Hall following the 5pm mass (6:15 pm) and we will dismiss promptly at 8:15 pm (note that this is a new dismissal time this year.) Students will be dismissed out the front doors of the Church and all parents are asked to pick up the teens in that location promptly at 8:15 pm. We will always have dinner together as a large group before sending the teens to their faith formation classes. Registration packets/fee are due prior to the beginning of TLC to insure your teen is put in a classroom before the start of TLC. As always, I open to any questions, concerns, comments or if you just want to chat! If I haven’t had the opportunity to meet you yet or your teen and your family are new to TLC this year, I look forward to the opportunity to meet you and welcome your family into one of St. Michael’s most vibrant and enriching ministries!
